INTERNATIONAL INSTRUCTORS COURSE:6-7 MARCH 2010
WHAT EXACTLY IS AN INTERNATIONAL INSTRUCTORS COURSE AND WHO CAN GO?
The ITF International Instructors Course is a two day seminar open to red belts and above. The name is a little deceiving, as it is not really a course just for instructors or about instructing. It is an amazing two days of everything to do with ITF Taekwon-Do, from patterns, fundamentals and sparring, to self defence and philosophy. Senior dans and split into separate groups for some of the seminar so they can learn their particular techniques.
The course is run by the ITF Technical Committee – three of the top Masters in the world today. They put across an informative, interesting and fun seminar that everyone enjoys. We only have an IIC held in New Zealand around every two years – so don’t miss this opportunity.

COMMUNIQUÉ FROM THE STANDARDS AND DISCIPLINE COMMITTEE.
RE: ITFNZ Inc. position on MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) Tournaments, no holds barred events and cage fighting.
To all members of ITFNZ,
It has come to the attention of the organisation that there is a growing interest among some members to enter and compete in MMA, cage styled fighting events.
As an organisation, ITFNZ Inc. , does not condone this style of event within its own operation, nor does it have any connection with outside martial arts organisations in regards to these types of events.
The tradition, culture and strong history of ITF Taekwon-Do as created by General Choi Hong Hi also in no way reflect what these MMA or cage events stand for.
Members of ITFNZ Inc. need to note the following:
- ITFNZ Inc. does not support you as a member in these events, they are your individual choice.
- Express permission needs to be sought from your instructor to compete outside of the organisation.
- Registration to compete cannot be affiliated with ITFNZ Inc. or ITF Taekwon-do.
- You cannot under any circumstances wear your ITFNZ dobok.
- If an Instructor says you cannot compete, you must then decide. Are you a Taekwon-Do practitioner who follows the tenets and what we stand for? Or is Taekwon-Do and what we do not right for you? If you cannot stand by what your instructor asks, then they are in their right to ask you to leave.
We are part of a wonderful ITF family and a rich history. Ample opportunity exists within ITFNZ Inc. to test skill and prowess. Take the opportunities that are already present and make the most of them. It is extremely important that we all cherish and protect this gift that General Choi gave us, and not allow it to be tarnished or damaged by false impressions.
Yours in Taekwon-Do.
Mr. Kane Raukura (V Degree) Director – Standards and Discipline Committee. ITFNZ Inc.
