Midlands Nationals Team update

June 25th, 2009 admin

There has been some confusion over who is in the team with no deadline given so last day for team registration is Sunday June 28.

Christine has gone to Vietnam for 3 weeks and we need to get this sorted so those that perhaps have not sorted flights etc know exactly what is happening.

I have agreed (along with Grant & Jodie) to look at the final layout of the team to be published next week.

This will give those who have yet to arrange Christchurch plenty of time rather than letting it drag on for too long.

Any late entries are welcome providing there is space of course and that you have your instructors blessing.

Early indications are that most of the team will be Black Belts so any coloured belts keen please let your instructor know… I realise that times are hard for some tho.

Some have already booked. Several of the Tauranga crew are at http://www.allseasonsholidaypark.co.nz/

There is another nearby at http://www.southbrightonmotorcamp.co.nz/ and both these venues are reportedly about 10/15 minutes from the venue.

We contacted one Motel with 42 units and this was completely booked! It is the school holidays and apparently there will be a swimming tournament on at the same time so DON’T DELAY!

To register go to http://hamiltontkd.co.nz/team/

Talk soon.

CONGRATULATIONS TO MR.JUAN ROSALES (1 DAN BOPTKD-PAPAMOA) AND MEGAN ON THE ARRIVAL OF MARCO ROSALES AND TO MR.CHRIS COKER (8th GUP BOPTKD-PAPAMOA) AND ANNA ON THE ARRIVAL OF GAIA LILY COKER (just last night July 9).

Dear Instructors,http://www.itfnz.org.nz/taekwon-dotalk/advertise.html

MESSAGE REGARDING OUR REGIONAL PRESIDENT:

I am pleased to inform you that Mr.Simon Mallinson from Te Awamutu has been voted on to the Midlands incorporated society as our new president.

I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate Simon on his appointment and wish him the best of luck.

This now puts us in the position to call for club members who wish to support their region to step forward and become club representatives.

Midlands already has a few names and they will be contacted shortly, but if anyone else is keen then contact Mr.Cale on familycale@xtra.co.nz and he can inform you of what is required. If all goes well we shall soon have a committee up and running to support our region with all sorts of things.

So for all those that believe more could be done to promote Taekwon-do in the region now is the time to step up to the mark. Perhaps you are in the background thinking “WHY DON’T WE DO THIS, WHY DON’T WE DO THAT?” well now’s your chance.

Mr.Cale looks forward to hearing from you all soon.

International Instructors Course 2010

June 12th, 2009 admin

Location: Counties Manukau
 6-7 March 2010 (new date)

The ITF Technical Committee will once again hold an International Instructors Course (IIC) and senior dan grading in New Zealand – this time in Summer!

The IIC will be conducted by the ITF Technical Committee:

Grand Master Hector Marano (9th degree)
Grand Master Pablo Trajtenberg (9th degree)
Master Wim Bos (8th degree)

This course will be a COMBINED AUSTRALIA AND NEW ZELAND IIC open to red belts and above.

Accompanying the ITF Technical Committee will be Master Alberto Katz, Chairman of the ITF Umpires & Tournament Committee who will conduct an ITF Umpires course on the 8th March.

This will enable members from both New Zealand and Australia to become ITF qualified as umpires (B & A Grade), ahead of the ITF World Champs which are being held in Wellington the following year. Master Katz will also be conducting a training seminar on Friday 5th March 2010 for all to attend.

For more details including early discount rates visit:

What exactly is an International Instructors Course and who can go?

The ITF International Instructors Course is a two day seminar open to red belts and above. The name is a little deceiving, as it is not really a course just for instructors or about instructing. It is an amazing two days of everything to do with ITF Taekwon-Do, from patterns, fundamentals and sparring, to self defence and philosophy. Senior dans and split into separate groups for some of the seminar so they can learn their particular techniques.

The course is run by the ITF Technical Committee – three of the top Masters in the world today. They put across an informative, interesting and fun seminar that everyone enjoys. We only have an IIC held in New Zealand around every two years – so don’t miss this opportunity.
