Taekwon-Do on TV

In 2007 there was a show which went around the world and looked at different martial arts – this is mainly WTF style Taekwon-Do but some of it is very interesting – especially the power produced by kicks…

Michael Davis nominated for award

Michael Davis was nominated as best junior sportsman of the year in the sport Gisborne and Tairawhiti region for his out standing achievements in the last 12 months.
This also put him into the running for sportsperson of the year but he was pipped by Hoesa Gear.
I am sure he would welcome your congratulations but the amount of publicity this has raised for our minority sport/ art is fantastic.
For any further datails please look at. http://www.sportgisborne.org.nz

Midlands Team for Nationals

Hi Everyone,

We can register online for the midlands team that will attend the ITKD Nationals in August (13th-14th 2011) at the North Shore Events Centre.

There is the option to buy Awards dinner tickets too – they cost $42.50 for each adult (13 yrs and above)  and $25 for a child (5-12yrs old)

If you have any questions on weights, divisions or events – please talk to your instructor.

The website for Midlands sign up is: http://www.tkdhosting.com/tournament/midlands

It works the same way as we had for regionals. Please put as much information in as you can. Please try and attend the fortnightly trainings at Aquinas action centre in Tauranga. the next one of those is Sunday July 10th 9am -11:30am. Followed by one on the Sunday the 24th.

If you can’t make any of the trainings please let the team coach  – Mr Ross Black (email taurangaaccltd@xtra.co.nz) or the team manager Mr Mark Pettit (email markandrose@xtra.co.nz)  – know.

If you are interested in either team events or pre-arranged please email Ross, or Mark as well, before selecting the event.

Cheers

David Blackwell

BOP TKD – KIDS CORNER:

I was very impressed at your last grading and Miss.Rosser is very proud of all of you. Well done. Don’t forget introduce yourself to someone new at the next class, that’s how you make friends.

How are you all going with the new page in your books?  Remember to keep reading, keep practicing and be nice to each other.

Also a reminder parents … please have fees sorted as close to the beginning of each month via AP. Some are outstanding from September. In order for students to get a grading result all fees must be up to date.

Master Rimmer.

SCHOOL HOLIDAYS AT GREENPARK SCHOOL:

Due to the poor turnout during the last school holidays, training at Greenpark will be cancelled on October 5 and 7 for the balance of the school holidays.

I haven’t had to do this at all in the past since Tauranga began in August 1987, but 2 or 3 students during the last holidays was just too small.

For those that are keen, training will still be available at:

BOP Taekwon-Do Academy – Papamoa

  • Papamoa Sport & Recreation Center, Gordon Spratt Reserve, Alice Way
  • Tuesdays from 5.30 and Wednesdays from 6.00.

Hwa Rang Academy – Pillans Point

  • Pillans Point School hall, 101 Maxwell Rd, Tauranga
  • Mondays & Thursdays 5.40pm – 7.10pm

Silla Taekwon-Do

  • Te Puna School Hall, Te Puna, Tauranga
  • Monday and Thursday 6.00 – 8.00pm
